The 2020 jury chaired by Laurie Anderson and including Philippe Starck, awarded the 13th Glenn Gould Prize to Alanis Obomsawin.
Filmmaker, visual artist, singer and activist, through her multifarious artistic work, Obomsawin has been one of Canada’s most passionate and visible advocates for Indigenous peoples.
The prestigious Glenn Gould Foundation and Prize celebrate the work of a living individual for their unique lifetime contribution to the enrichment of human conditions through the arts. A tribute to Glenn Gould’s artistry and his multifaceted contributions to culture, the prize promotes the vital connection between artistic excellence and the transformation of lives.
